Brand guidelines

The identity, and the reasoning behind it.

Everything a designer, printer or agency needs to apply the 28th Day Technology brand correctly.

The mark

A month, with one day marked

Twenty-eight cells in a seven-by-four grid — a calendar month laid flat. The top row sits lighter, the way a calendar's weekday header does. The twenty-eighth cell is orange: the day the work goes live.

It is built only from rectangles, so it stays sharp at any size, needs no outlining for print, and reduces to a single ink without losing its shape.

  • Clear space: one full cell width on every side.
  • Minimum size: 24px wide on screen, 10mm in print. Below that, use the square version.
  • Single colour: render all 28 cells at full strength in one ink. The final cell keeps its position but loses its colour — that is the accepted compromise.
  • Never round the cells, change the gap, rotate the grid, add a shadow, or recolour the twenty-eighth cell.
Colour

Six values, one accent

Neutrals carry the work. Orange marks completion and action, and nothing else — if a layout is more than about five per cent orange, something is wrong.

Paper #F2F3F4

The default ground. Neutral, not cold, not cream.

Page background

Sheet #FFFFFF

Raised surfaces one step brighter than paper.

Cards, panels, inputs

Ink #121417

Near-black. Text, and the dark blocks.

Type, CTA block, footer

Slate #5A6069

Secondary text and labels.

Body copy, captions

Line #E3E5E8

Every hairline and border on the site.

Borders, dividers

Orange #EA4B19

The 28th day. Completion, action, emphasis.

Logo cell, buttons, accents

Typography

Two faces, clearly divided

Plus Jakarta Sans

Everything: headings, body, buttons, navigation. Weight 700–800 for headings with tight tracking, 400 for running text. Sentence case — never all caps.

IBM Plex Mono

Labels only: eyebrows, day numbers, spec rows, tags. Always uppercase with 0.14–0.16em tracking. Never for body copy.

  • Both are self-hosted in assets/fonts/ — no Google Fonts call, so the site loads faster and sends nothing to a third party.
  • Headings are sentence case with letter-spacing around −0.032em.
  • Numbers use tabular figures so columns of data line up.
  • No italics anywhere. Emphasis is weight or colour.
Voice

How we sound

  • Plain, specific, unhurried. A short declarative sentence beats a qualified one.
  • Name the problem before the solution.
  • Concrete over superlative. "Twenty-eight days", not "rapid". "You own the code", not "client-centric".
  • Admit the trade-off. Naming what an approach costs is the most persuasive thing on the page.
  • Banned: cutting-edge, synergy, best-in-class, leverage as a verb, seamless, revolutionary, "we are passionate about".
